Louie Gobbi started Heavy Equipment Rentals in 1993 with one tractor and a vision -- a vision to provide his customers with quality equipment and exceptional customer service. Though economic times have been tough in the construction business, the rental business has grown at a surprising rate. Flash forward to 2007, Heavy had increased it’s rental fleet to 32 pieces of equipment and Louie’s son Jim became a partner in the business.

For over 17 years Heavy has provided our customers in Northern California with the right equipment and we pride ourselves on our personal service. Louie Gobbi

Louie GobbiLouie Gobbi started his career in construction in 1957. Louie started in construction with his brother (Johnny) and Gobbi Excavation in and around Petaluma, CA. He ran all types of small equipment until 1964 when he went to work for Arthur B. Siri Construction Company based in Santa Rosa, CA. He worked 6 years as Job Foreman/Supervisor on all kinds of construction projects.

In 1971 Louie went to work for Piombo Construction Company working on Warm Springs Dam in Cloverdale, CA. He started with Piombo as a Project Foreman and worked his way up to Project Superintendent. Three years later he was promoted into a salaried position as the Area Superintendent for Santa Rosa based projects.

In 1992 Louie moved to an Area Superintendent position with Ghilotti Brothers Construction Company.  Louie was promoted to General Superintendent and joined Ghilotti Construction Company in that capacity when the two companies split. Louie continued in the General Superintendent position with Ghilotti Construction until his retirement in 2007.

Jim Gobbi

Jim GobbiJim Gobbi has been working in the Northern California construction business for over 28 years. He started his career in 1982 with Piombo Construction Company as a laborer. Four years later Jim joined the apprentice program in the Operating Engineers Local 3. For the past 17 years Jim has been working with the Ghilotti Construction Company as an operator and a Foreman. Jim has specialized and worked extensively in road work and paving for Ghilotti.

Jim’s background and experience working with both Ghilotti and Piombo has provided a great education on the proper usage and care of heavy equipment. This experience enabled Jim to join his father in the family business. So, in 2007 he became a partner in Heavy Equipment Rental.
